With a bang, Hannah shut the door, shutting out any more talk from Elsa.
Heading downstairs from Hannah’s place, Elsa skipped her own door and knocked on Joselyn’s.
As soon as she stepped in, Joselyn eagerly prodded Elsa, “How’d it go? What did Hannah say?”
“She’s game for the race. She said if she loses, she backs off Remington, and if I lose, I apologize to her.”
Joselyn’s eyes darted and she grabbed Elsa’s hand. “You’re being played! How could you fall for it?”
Elsa looked puzzled. “What do you mean?”
“If she’s up for the race, she’s got skills! If she wins, not only do you apologize, but it’s also a blow to your pride!”
The princess raised her chin, oozing superiority. “She’s no match for me. I’m top dog in horseback riding. There will be no contest!”
Pfft, that was just because everyone cut her slack!
Hannah was no pushover; today at the race track, her skills had shocked many!

Joselyn calmly coached Elsa, buttering her up. “Your riding’s top-notch but anything can go wrong on the track. We must be ready for it all.”
Elsa sank into the couch beside Joselyn. “But now I’m locked into this race. What’s my move?”

Joselyn’s eyes narrowed. She had a sneaky plan brewing. “Miss Austin, I have a trick up my sleeve that will guarantee you the win.”
“Tell me.”
“These horses? They’re provided by the locals. A Little tweak to the hoofs… subtle enough no one’ll catch on, and victory’s yours.”
Elsa frowned, getting to her feet. “I wanted to win fair and square. What’s the point if I have to stoop to such a level?”
Caught off guard by Elsa’s reaction, Joselyn’s face flickered awkwardly. “I was just throwing it out there. If you’re not into it, we’ll drop it.”
“Bute”
Joselyn hesitated. “It isn’t really cheating, just a little strategy ~ I’m worried about you, Elsa. If something goes wrong and you lose, it’s a big hit!”
As expected, Elsa’s expression started to waver. “But… even if I win that way, it isn’t honorable!”
